Chrysanthos
The colours and glazes we bring to Georgia are made by Chrysanthos — a family-owned company trusted by potters around the world.
How it began
Chrysanthos was founded by Tony Crisafi, a chemist with a dream of reviving the ceramic industry in Australia. The business began in 1993 in a small factory in Melbourne, under the name Ceramic Solutions.
As the company grew into a supplier to potters around the world, production moved to China and the range took the name Chrysanthos. The name joins the family name with Greek roots meaning "golden flower". The company is still owned and run by the Crisafi family.
Where it stands today
Chrysanthos produces in Nanning, in southern China, and runs the Chrysanthos Experience Centre in Jingdezhen, China's historic porcelain capital. Its colours are sold in more than 30 countries, and in China it is regarded as a premium brand.
Its colours are used by artists, teachers, students, hobbyists and small manufacturers.
Quality
Chrysanthos aims to be "equal to the best", and invests heavily in research and quality control. Every raw material is tested on arrival, and every batch is checked for colour and consistency before release: viscosity, specific gravity, particle size and pH. Equipment and kilns are calibrated regularly.
Labels follow ASTM standards, with hazards clearly marked on the packaging.
Why we chose Chrysanthos
We were looking for colours that would let Georgian artists express themselves fully: modern, diverse and refined. Chrysanthos matches the quality of the leading American brands, at prices within reach of every studio.
The range covers almost everything a potter needs: underglazes, glazes for every firing, effect glazes, powders, pencils and chalks. One trusted maker can support a studio's whole practice. And like us, its founder believes good colour should not be a luxury.
